The UAN, allotted to every member of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), can provide universal access to multiple PF. Subscribers can link their PF accounts across employers to a single common account. This makes tasks like online passbook downloads, balance transfers, credit alerts, updating profile, etc. more convenient.
You can get your UAN (Universal account Number) in two ways – one; your employer does the needful for you. Two, you can generate it from the member portal on the EPFO’s official website. Considering the chances of errors and the difficulties that employers face often, it’s better to generate and activate it yourself. So, here’s all the information you need to know on how to get a UAN number online. After getting or activating your UAN you can check & transfer your PF online.

Log in to the UAN member portal and open ‘UAN Allotment’. Next, enter your Aadhaar number, and you’ll receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Once you’ve submitted the OTP, fill up the details in the form that appears next and register. As you receive your UAN instantly, proceed to activate the same. Open the ‘Activate UAN’ link on the same portal, fill up all the details as required and click on the ‘Get Authorisation Pin’ option.
On doing so, an authorisation PIN will be messaged to your registered mobile number. Enter that PIN along with an OTP and click on the relevant button to proceed. Post activation of UAN, you will receive the password on your phone number via SMS. Once you know the A-Z about Universal account Number, you can manage your account effortlessly.
