The GST Council in India keeps revising the GST rates for various commodities like GST rates on gold every now & then. In the current scenario, the GST rates slab for the different items tends to range between 3 percent, 5 percent, 12 percent, 18 percent, and 28 percent.


Most of the common items like packaged items, electronics, gold, groceries, and garments GST rates are some of the most important rates for the individuals to keep a note of. A higher tax rate for the items would imply higher inconvenience –especially for the middle-class people.
As far as the GST rates for gold are concerned, currently it is 3 percent. However, there are several ways in which the new GST rates for gold might get affected from time to time. In the clothing & apparel section, the GST rates for the garments are fixed at 12 percent currently. Footwear ranging around 1000 INR is currently attracting the GST rate for around 5 percent. The footwear pieces above the price range of 1000 INR are known to attract the GST rates for 18 percent.
For the food products, biscuits initially have a GST rate of around 18 percent. Since February 2019, the current GST rate for biscuits is around 5 percent.
